(Des)hilvanar el sentido/los juegos de Penélope : una revisión del concepto imaginario y sus implicaciones sociales

Abstract

RESUMEN: este texto presenta una conceptualización sobre lo imaginario social, delimitando algunos de sus rasgos y definiendo algunas categorías que lo convierten en un concepto central a la hora de pensar procesos de transformación social y educativa en países como Colombia. Se hace un recorrido histórico-epistemológico del concepto hasta centrarse en el pensamiento de Cornelius Castoriadis, y a partir de ahí se plantea que lo imaginario no se refiere a lo puramente estructural, a representaciones inamovibles en las sociedades sino que, antes bien, se trata de una capacidad creativa relacionada con la imaginación, la cual devela la potencia creativa del ser humano, pues un imaginario es un conjunto real y complejo de imágenes (de lo que somos y queremos) que aparecen para provocar sentidos diversos, sentidos que acaecen, se instituyen y abren mundo.

This paper presents a conceptualization of the social imaginary, delimiting some of its features and defining some categories that make it a central concept when thinking about processes of education and social transformation in countries like Colombia. The concept is first viewed form a historical and epistemological perspective under the thoughts of Cornelius-Castoriadis. Based on this, it is argued that the imaginary does not refer purely to the structural, to representations entrenched in society; but, rather, it is a creative ability, related to the imagination, which reveals the creative power of the human being. Because, an imaginary is real and complex set of images (of what we are and want) that appear to cause different senses, senses that happen, senses that create and open world.
