Puerca Tierra. El Resguardo frente a la República. San Carlos de Cañasgordas 1832-1852

Abstract

RESUMEN: Este artículo indaga sobre las relaciones socio-económicas y políticas construidas en el resguardo de San Carlos de Cañasgordas —el occidente antioqueño—, entre los indígenas, los vecinos y las diferentes autoridades de la época durante 1832 y 1852. Interesado en descubrir las dinámicas en medio de los actores sociales que por la historiografía se conoce habitaron estos espacios y, al tenor de la legislación sobre la repartición de los resguardos, el artículo analiza desde la perspectiva cuantitativa y cualitativa la importancia material que este espacio comportó para las autoridades republicanas, para los indígenas —no solo del resguardo— y los demás vecinos instalados en sus límites desde el siglo XVIII. Todo ello bajo la óptica e influencia de las ideas liberales que recorrían el mundo occidental de entonces

ABSTRACT: This article investigates the socio-economic and political relations built in the reservation of San Carlos de Cañasgordas —western Antioquia—, between the Indians, the neighbors, and the different authorities of the time during 1832 and 1852. Interested in discovering the dynamics in the midst of the social actors that historiography is known to inhabit these spaces and, according to the legislation on the distribution of reservations, the article analyzes from the quantitative and qualitative perspective the material importance that this space entailed for the republican authorities, for the indigenous people – not only of the reservation – and the other neighbors installed in its limits since the eighteenth century. All this was under the perspective and influence of the liberal ideas that ran through the Western world of that time.
