Resumen : Introduction: the present work is the result of the research on the integral formation in the professional practices of the Microbiology and Bioanalysis program of the School of Microbiology at the Universidad de Antioquia. It was based on the analysis of the definition that the internal advisors, facilitators, link teachers, and practice students give to the concept of integral formation and its evidence in the practice scenario. The aim of this study was to investigate how the professional practices of the Microbiology and Bioanalysis program, which make part of the integral formation of the students, respond to the training curriculum and to the current requirements of practice scenarios. Methods: the methodology was based on a qualitative approach with survey techniques, interviews, observation and review of formats used for evaluating the different issues. The work unit corresponded to the participants involved in the development of professional practices in 2015, and the unit of analysis to their written expressions. Results: the different findings included a coherent concept of integral education, the visibility of the integral formation component of the curriculum among the students, and the pertinence of the current integral system of evaluation for professional practices. Conclusions: an integral formation component that is still going through a process of improvement, based on the recommendations provided, is evident in the professional practices of the Microbiology and Bioanalysis program.
