Cuerpo, modificaciones y excesos

Abstract

RESUMEN: El cuerpo como superficie sobre la cual se crean significados, se incorporan discursos éticos y morales, políticos y económicos, sociales y culturales. El cuerpo modificado como un espacio donde se refleja la sociedad y la cultura, y a la vez como un lugar desde donde se resiste a estas. Un cuerpo a través del cual se expresan ideas, sentimientos y preferencias estéticas. El cuerpo como forma de participación y a la vez de exclusión, y las modificaciones sobre el cuerpo y sus historias, simbología y razones. Los excesos y los límites en las transformaciones como un punto especial de análisis y como un reflejo de los discursos sociales. Esta investigación pretende, a través de las herramientas de la antropología y el trabajo etnográfico, analizar las transformaciones sobre el cuerpo, con el fin de comprender usos y significados. Ir más allá de las simples alegorías, entender a las personas y sus entornos, sus relatos y sus ideas. Se van a trabajar alteraciones de tres tipos: tatuajes, fisicoculturismo y cirugías estéticas, con el fin de establecer relaciones y diferencias, con el ánimo de mirar la corporalidad desde distintas latitudes y establecer relaciones transversales entre las modificaciones, sus vivencias y sus significados en la ciudad de Medellín.

ABSTRACT: The human body as an area where meanings are created. Where ethical and moral, political and economic, social and cultural speaches are incorporated. The body modified as an space where society and culture are reflected, and at the same time as a place from where it resists. The body as an space where ideas, feelings and aesthetic preferences are expressed. The body as a form of participation and at the same time of exclusion, and the modifications on the body and it’s histories, symbology and reasons. Excesses and limits in the body transformations as an special point of analysis and as a reflection of social discourses. This research aims, through the methodological tools of anthropology and the ethnographic work, to analyze the transformations on the body, in order to understand uses and meanings. Going beyond the simple allegories, to understand the people and their surroundings, their stories and their ideas. Alterations of three types are analized: tattoos, bodybuilding and aesthetic surgeries, in order to create relationships and differences, looking at corporality from different latitudes and establishing transversal relations between the modifications, their experiences and their meanings in Medellin, Colombia.
