Revisión de metodologías para la clasificación de las coberturas de la tierra

Abstract

RESUMEN: La creciente necesidad de información actualizada y de calidad requerida por los diferentes sectores, tanto, privado, público, ONG’s, entre otros, para la toma de decisiones ambientales, sociales y económicas con el propósito de construir y mapear el territorio en el que se habita, requiere de herramientas diferentes interconectadas para la construcción de información confiable. La información inicial para la construcción de la cartografía y clasificación de las coberturas de la tierra comienza con la obtención de imágenes satelitales para luego ser analizadas con la ayuda de la teledetección y los SIG, de esta manera proyectos y acciones desarrolladas por diferentes entidades pueden clasificar las coberturas de la tierra encontradas en sus investigaciones teniendo en cuenta las condiciones biofísicas del territorio. Es por esta razón que surgen las diferentes metodologías para la clasificación de las coberturas de la tierra, con las cuales se ordena de manera jerárquica las coberturas terrestres existentes de manera general en los territorios. Tomando en cuenta el esquema y las leyendas de clasificación de las coberturas de la tierra desarrolladas por diferentes organizaciones, se obtuvieron dificultades a la hora de la comparación, ya que todos los sistemas, aunque tiene un mismo propósito, su estructura y alcance son diferentes, es por esto que se generalizo y unifico la información mediante el uso de criterios generales de los sistemas o metodologías para su respectiva comparación y de esta manera poder revelar la mejor metodología para el caso colombiano.

ABSTRACT : The growing need for updated and quality information required by the different sectors, both private and public, NGOs, among others, for environmental, social and economic decision-making in order to build and map the territory in which they live, requires different interconnected tools for the construction of reliable information. The initial information for the construction of cartography and classification of land cover begins with obtaining satellite images and then is analyzed with the help of remote sensing and GIS, in this way projects and actions developed by different entities can classify the land cover found in their investigations taking into account the biophysical conditions of the territory. It is for this reason that the different methodologies for the classification of land covers emerge, with which the land covers generally in the territories are ordered hierarchically. Taking into account the scheme and the legends of classification of land cover developed by different organizations, difficulties were obtained when comparing, since all systems, although they have the same purpose, their structure and scope are different, This is why the information was generalized and unified through the use of general criteria of the systems or methodologies for their respective comparison and in this way to be able to reveal the best methodology for the Colombian case.
