Territorialidades de la globalización: Movimiento espacial de la industria manufacturera, apuestas políticas y reconfiguraciones territoriales en el Valle de San Nicolás, Colombia

Abstract

RESUMEN: La presente investigación se centró en comprender, desde una perspectiva territorial, el movimiento espacial de la industria manufacturera asentada en la ciudad de Medellín hacia el Valle de San Nicolás, Colombia, y con su llegada, la reconfiguración territorial acontecida en este lugar. El posicionamiento teórico-metodológico se enmarca en reflexiones provenientes de las geografías críticas y los estudios socioespaciales. Comprender la reconfiguración territorial acontecida implicó una mirada en espiral a los ciclos y espacialidades del movimiento industrial, las acciones políticas desplegadas y las formas de regulación inmersas que, en su conjunto, han producido en el Valle de San Nicolás un tipo de recorte con una funcionalidad territorial, forjando una aglomeración funcional no conurbada regida por Medellín. Esta organización funcional, como proceso multiescalar, ha impactado los usos y formas de habitar la ruralidad, derivando en un declive de la vida campesina. El resultado ha sido la producción de dinámicas periféricas e intersticiales al movimiento industrial y la regulación estatal, donde el territorio de dinámicas más horizontales se ha forjado como altamente permeable, fragmentado, propenso a ser intervenido, persistiendo, mientras sigue “a la espera” de las nuevas funciones trazadas dentro del proceso de organización funcional de este espacio geográfico.

ABSTRACT: This research aimed to understand, from a territorial perspective, the spatial mobility of the manufacturing industry based in the city of Medellín towards the San Nicolás Valley, Colombia, and along with it, the territorial reconfiguration that took place with its arrival. The theoreticalmethodological approach is framed in reflections derived from critical geographies and sociospatial studies. Understanding the territorial reconfiguration that ensued called for a spiral look at the cycles and spatialities of the industrial movement, the political actions deployed and the underlying forms of regulation that, as a whole, have produced in the San Nicolás Valley a kind of division of land with a territorial functionality, forging a non-conurbation functional agglomeration governed by the city of Medellín. This functional organization, understood as a multi-scale process, has impacted the uses and ways of inhabiting rurality, causing a decline in peasant life. The result has been the production of peripheral and interstitial dynamics in both the industrial movement and state regulation, through which the territory of the more horizontal dynamics has been shaped as highly permeable, fragmented, prone to be intervened, and persisting while still "on standby" for the new functions that were outlined within the process of the functional organization of this geographical space.
