Novela sin mundo y otras técnicas para el desvanecimiento del yo en Macedónio Fernández

Abstract

RESUMEN: A través de Museo de la novela de la Eterna y los conceptos de «Belarte» y «Humorismo», Macedonio Fernández se propone hacer una novela experimental en donde sea posible la duda y el desvanecimiento del yo. La masificación y la industrialización de la Buenos Aires de finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX trajeron como consecuencia la fragmentación y enajenación del sujeto. Por lo tanto, el arte y específicamente la literatura, por medio de las vanguardias, se dieron a la tarea de encontrar formas de nombrar ese entorno transformado. En este contexto, Macedonio comienza a planificar su novela, una novela que no comienza y que teoriza sobre su misma construcción, una novela para liberar al sujeto. De acuerdo con lo anterior, este artículo se propone analizar cómo en dicha novela se lleva a cabo el desvanecimiento del yo a la luz de la Belarte y el Humorismo, y cómo Macedonio deja para la literatura una novela «fallida».

ABSTRACT: In the novel Museo de la novela de la Eterna [Museum of Eterna›s Novel (The First Good Novel)] and through the use of the concepts of «Belarte» [Belle art] and «Humorism», Macedonio Fernández aims to create an experimental novel based on the doubt and fading of the Self. Processes of massification and industrialization in the Buenos Aires of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries resulted, among others, in the fragmentation and alienation of the subject. In such a context, and through the rise of avant-garde movements, the arts, and specifically literature, set out to find ways to name this transformed environment. In this context, Macedonio starts to plan his novel, a novel that doesn ́t begin, and that theorizes about its own construction; a novel about the illogical, that will liberate the subject. This paper will explore how this novel develops the liberation of the self in the light of «Belarte» and «Humorism», and how Macedonio ́s legacy to literature is a novel of failure.

RÉSUMÉ: Dans le Musée du roman de l’Eternelle Macedonio Fernández construit un roman expérimental du doute et de la disparition du je à partir des concepts de “Belarte” et “Humorismo”. La massification et l’industrialisation de Buenos Aires à la fin du XIXe et début du XXe siècle ont fragmenté et aliéné le sujet. Ainsi, l’art et la littérature des avant-gardes, en particulier, ont cherché la manière de donner un nom à cette transformation de l’entourage. Dans ce contexte Macedonio commence à planifier son roman, qui ne commence jamais, qui propose une réflexion sur sa propre construction et qui libère le sujet. Dans cet article nous analyserons de quelle manière le sujet disparait dans ce roman à partir des concepts de “Belarte” et “Humorismo” et dans quelle mesure Macedonio aurait écrit un roman “manqué”.
