Pensar la institución museística en términos de institución educativa y cultural, el caso del Museo de Antioquia

Abstract

RESUMEN: El objetivo central de este artículo es develar las percepciones e imaginarios sobre la naturaleza educativa y cultural de una institución museística emblemática de Colombia. El alcance es descriptivo y la metodología empleada fue el estudio de caso. Se propuso al Museo de Antioquia la realización de varios talleres con participación de representantes de todas las áreas de la Institución (comercial, curaduría, educación, proyectos, gestión humana, cultura, comunicaciones, museo itinerante, administración y financiera, jurídica, relaciones corporativas). Como resultado se evidenciaron diversas prácticas deconstructivas y transformadoras, propias del denominado giro educativo que caracteriza a los museos contemporáneos. La principal conclusión es que el personal del Museo coincide en la centralidad de la función educadora que tiene la Institución, no obstante, no se logra concretar cómo, por qué y sobre quién debe recaer el liderazgo de esta.

ABSTARCT: The central objective of this article is to unveil the perceptions and assumptions about the educational and cultural nature of a Colombian noteworthy museum institution.The scope is descriptive and the methodology used was the case study.The proposition was presented before the Museum of Antioquia to carry out several workshops with the participation of representatives from all the areas of the Institution (the commercial, curatorship, education, projects, human management, culture, communications, itinerant museum, administration and finances, legal, corporate relations departments). As a result,it became evident that there are various deconstructive and transformingpractices, in keeping with the so-called educational turn that characterizes contemporary museums.The main conclusion is that the Museum staff coincides in the paramount importance of the educating function that the Institution has, nevertheless, they fail to explain how, why and who must be responsible for it.
