La novela Nosotros (1921) en español: 100 años de ediciones y traducciones

Abstract

RESUMEN: La novela antiutópica Nosotros, del escritor ruso Evgeny Zamiatin se tradujo y publicó por primera vez hace 100 años (1924). Desde su creación en 1921, enfrentó problemas editoriales y de traducción, tanto por su contexto político como por su lugar de origen. En este sentido, el objetivo de este trabajo es estudiar las condiciones socioculturales en que esta novela fue publicada y traducida al español. Para desarrollar este estudio se seleccionaron las tres ediciones-traducciones disponibles para acceso público en la ciudad de Medellín, Colombia y se elaboró una matriz analítica básica que permitió identificar la esencia de estas ediciones al español, encontrando que Nosotros, durante un siglo, continuó publicándose en el ámbito hispanohablante, en línea ideológica y comercial: sus ediciones y traducciones en español están marcadas por un contexto de reacción política frente a la amenaza de pérdida de democracia en Occidente. También se pudo evidenciar en este estudio, el proceso de profesionalización y especialización en la manera en cómo se elaboró la traducción-edición de esta novela en el mundo hispanohablante y cómo su tránsito editorial muestra el temprano interés por esta novela desde ámbitos no rusos. Por último, respecto a las traducciones, el perfil socio profesional del traductor, repercutió en la técnica final y el estilo de traducción que se hizo del libro original, condicionando en última instancia, la precisión en la transmisión de significados, y, por lo tanto, la manera en que esta novela ha sido percibida por el público en español.

ABSTRACT: The anti-utopian novel We, by the Russian writer Evgeny Zamyatin, was first translated and published 100 years ago (1924). Since its creation in 1921, it faced editorial and translation problems, both due to its political context and its place of origin. In this sense, the objective of this work is to study the sociocultural conditions in which this novel was published and translated into Spanish. To develop this study, the three editions-translations available for public access in the city of Medellín, Colombia were selected and a basic analytical matrix was developed that allowed us to identify the essence of these editions into Spanish, finding that We, for a century, continued to be published. . in the Spanish-speaking sphere, along ideological and commercial lines: its editions and translations in Spanish are marked by a context of political reaction to the threat of loss of democracy in the West. It was also possible to demonstrate in this study the process of professionalization and specialization of the way in which the translation-editing of this novel was prepared in the Spanish-speaking world and how its editorial transition shows the early interest in this novel from non-Russian areas. . Finally, with respect to translations, the socio-professional profile of the translator had an impact on the final technique and the style of translation that was made of the original book, ultimately conditioning the precision in the transmission of meanings, and, therefore , the way in which this novel has been perceived by the Spanish public.
