Expresiones de la memoria y la oralitura. Cambios, transformaciones y permanencias de los alabaos a raíz de su patrimonialización, Condoto, Chocó. 2014 – 2024

Abstract

RESUMEN: La memoria y las oralituras son partes esenciales en la configuración y constitución de las comunidades afro que habitan el Pacífico colombiano, tanto para sus sistemas de creencias y tradiciones como para su propia existencia e historia. Sin estos elementos, los individuos y grupos humanos que allí conviven no tendrían un núcleo cultural e identitario que logre articularlos y vincularlos como colectividad. Un ejemplo de esto son los ritos mortuorios, particularmente los alabaos, los cuales se presentan como expresiones de la memoria y la oralitura propias de la tradición cultural afrocolombiana en dicha región. Así, al estudiarlos, los rituales se visualizan no sólo como un medio para alivianar y vivir el proceso de duelo, tanto individual como colectivo, sino como un elemento que configura la vida y la muerte de los sujetos partícipes dentro del ritual, a la vez que configura la existencia de la comunidad; llenándola de identidad, tradición y valores simbólicos en su núcleo y estructura social como en los espacios rituales que allí se llevan a cabo, además de significantes y significados que explican y dan sentido a las experiencias humanas de sus miembros.

ABSTRACT: Memory and oralituras are essential parts of the configuration and constitution of the Afro communities that inhabit the Colombian Pacific, both for their belief systems and traditions as well as for their own existence and history. Without these elements, the individuals and human groups that coexist there would not have a cultural and identity core that could articulate and link them as a collectivity. An example of this is the mortuary rites, particularly the alabaos, which are presented as expressions of the memory and oralitura of the afro-colombian cultural tradition in that region. Thus, when studying them, rituals are visualized not only as a means to alleviate and experience the mourning process, both individually and collectively, but also as an element that shapes the life and death of the subjects participating in the ritual, and at the same time shapes the existence of the community; filling it with identity, tradition and symbolic values in its core and social structure as well as in the ritual spaces that take place there, in addition to signifiers and meanings that explain and give meaning to the human experiences of its members.
