El mulato consagrado por Changó. Negredumbre, mestizaje y trietnicidad como ejes articuladores en las redes intelectuales de Manuel Zapata Olivella (1943-1983)

Abstract

RESUMEN: Este trabajo de investigación se propone, desde la historia intelectual, presentar y analizar algunas de las principales inquietudes intelectuales, sociabilidades, asociaciones, redes, discusiones y debates que se fueron configurando en torno a la figura de Manuel Zapata Olivella, entre 1943 y 1983, época en la que creó y consolidó esas relaciones personales y académicas que perfilaron su devenir y redes intelectuales, principalmente en torno a las ideas de negredumbre, negritud y mestizaje que fungieron como ejes articuladores de dichas discusiones y trabajo intelectual. Como toda su vida y obra está inserta con los movimientos del panafricanismo y la negritud, un primer capítulo se dedicó a presentar un panorama general de los diversos movimientos englobados en estas corrientes. Un segundo capítulo se concentró en los debates y contexto colombiano de una nación en construcción, presentando además una síntesis de su biografía. Un tercer capítulo se dedicó a profundizar en esas sociabilidades, personas debates y discusiones en torno a la negredumbre y el mestizaje como ejes articuladores de su trabajo y de las redes intelectuales en torno a él, pues luchar por hacer justicia del legado cultural negro, desde la literatura, la filosofía, la historia, la memoria, el folclor, que lo perfilan como un intelectual versátil e integral, es lo que lo hace un mulato que se levantó para hablar por su raza, desde su espíritu y, sobre todo, un mulato consagrado por Changó

ABSTRACT: This research aims, from the intellectual history, to present and analyze some of the main intellectual concerns, sociabilities, associations, networks, discussions and debates the formed around the figure of Manuel Zapata Olivella, between 1943 and 1983. Period in which he created and consolidated the personal and academic relationships that shaped his journey and intellectual networks, primarily centered around the ideas of “negredumbre”, “negritud” and “mestizaje”, which served as main axes of his work and intellectual networks. Since his entire life and work are intertwined with the movements of Pan-Africanism and Negritude, the first chapter is dedicated to providing a general overview of the various movements encompassed by these currents. The second chapter focuses on the debates and Colombian context of a nation under construction, also presenting a summary of his biography. A third chapter was dedicated to delves into those sociabilities, individuals, debates, and discussions surrounding the “negredumbre” and “mestizaje” as the core themes of his work and the intellectual networks around him. Fighting to do justice to the Black cultural legacy through literature, philosophy, history, memory, and folklore, which characterize him as a versatile and comprehensive intellectual, is what makes him a mulatto who rose to speak for his race, from his spirit and, above all, a mulatto consecrated by Changó
