Pensar (y escribir) con el cuerpo

Abstract

RESUMEN: Este texto es una reflexión sobre los estudios del cuerpo y el paradigma metodológico que se emplea en dichas investigaciones. Hago aquí una mirada a lo “corporal” del llamado giro corporal de la investigación social en los últimos 20 años y propongo analizar los cuerpos —tanto de los investigadores como de los investigados— como agencia, capacidad de creación y transmisión de conocimiento, en vez de verlos como simples superficies de inscripción de la cultura. Partiendo de ejemplos etnográficos de “participación densa” (tanto mi propia experiencia como la de investigaciones realizadas por Sally Ness, Deidre Skylar, Jaida Kim Samudra y Robert Farris Thompson, entre otros) se consideran posibilidades en las que la experiencia corporal propia del investigador es el insumo primario para el análisis cultural, desestabilizando entonces las jerarquías investigador/investigado, experiencia/conocimiento, ciencia/arte.

ABSTRACT: This text is a reflection on the studies of the body and the methodological paradigm that it is used in these investigations. I take a look here at the “corporal” of the corporal turn of social investigation in the last 20 years and I intend to analyze the bodies – both of the researchers and those they investigate – as agency, capacity of creation and transmission of knowledge, instead of seeing them as simple surfaces of inscription of the culture. Based on ethnographic examples of “dense participation” (as much my own experience as that of investigations carried out by Sally Ness, Deidre Skylar, Jaida Kim Samudra and Robert Farris Thompson, among others) are considered possibilities in which the investigator’s own corporal experience is the primary input for the cultural analysis, destabilizing the hierarchies of investigator/investigated, experience/knowledge, science/art.
