Madres comunitarias antioqueñas y su vocación por el cuidado

Abstract

ABSTARCT: This article deals with the issue of becoming community mother for the government program of the Colombian Family Welfare Institute. The objective is to recognize the meaning that has for the community mothers their joining to the program of Welfare Homes. The scope of this study is to widen the vision about the work of care performed by the community mothers of Antioquia. A qualitative methodology was used, with a phenomenological-hermeneutical method. The sample was constituted by 30 community mothers coming from 6 municipalities of Antioquia department (Colombia) which participated in detailed surveys and focus groups. The research results show that is different to be a community mother than becoming a community mother; and that there are different ways, motivations and conditions to become a community mother; and that the work performed by these women promotes both their subjectivation and this of the children attending their homes. When care is performed by vocation it turns itself into an ethical practice.

RESUMEN: El presente artículo aborda el problema de hacerse madre comunitaria del Programa de Hogares de Bienestar del Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar. El objetivo es reconocer los sentidos que tiene para las madres comunitarias su ingreso al Programa de Hogares de Bienestar. El alcance del estudio es desplegar una visión más amplia del ejercicio del cuidado que realizan las madres comunitarias de Antioquia. La metodología utilizada fue cualitativa, con método de análisis fenomenológico-hermenéutico. La muestra estuvo compuesta por 30 madres comunitarias de 6 municipios de Antioquia con quienes se realizaron entrevistas en profundidad y grupos focales. Los resultados de la investigación indican que es diferente ser y hacerse madre comunitaria; que existen diversas rutas, motivaciones y condiciones para hacerse madre comunitaria; y que el trabajo de estas mujeres promueve tanto su subjetivación como la de los niños y niñas que asisten a su Hogar. Cuando el cuidado se realiza por vocación, este se constituye en una práctica ética.
