Abstract

RESUMEN: La Segunda Guerra Mundial constituyó el inicio de la incipiente comprensión científica de una crisis gestante desde conflictos anteriores y el contraste entre pensamientos y conceptos previos alrededor de las consecuencias psicológicas de la guerra. Precisamente lo que se intenta analizar en esta monografía es el cambio de paradigma que tuvo lugar durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, que consistió en el traspaso del ideal de un combatiente fuerte e inamovible, a la aceptación de que cada hombre tiene su punto de ruptura y la brutalidad del combate como responsable de aquel derrumbe psicológico. Esto a través del estudio de una condición psiquiátrica tan antigua como la guerra misma, pero recientemente acuñada en el Manual Diagnóstico y Estadístico de los trastornos mentales, a saber, el trastorno de estrés postraumático, que no obstante a sus cambiantes denominaciones a lo largo del tiempo de acuerdo al factor etiológico del fenómeno, la historia ha demostrado que solo su nombre ha cambiado

ABSTRACT: The World War II constituted the begining of the incipient scientific compression of an emerging crisis since former conflicts and the contrast between previous concepts and thoughts around the psicologycal consecuences of war. It is precisely the change on the paradigm that took place in the World War II what this monograph tries to analyze, that consisted in the change from a strong and immovable warrior to the uptake that every man has his breaking point and the acceptance of the brutality of the combat as responsible for that psychological collapse. This is possible through the study of a psychiatric condition as old as the war itself, only recently implemented in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), namely, the posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), that despite its changing denominations through time according to the etiological factor of the phenomenon, the history has proven that only the name has changed.
