Prensa liberal contestataria en tiempos de la Hegemonía conservadora : El Ariete contra el ultramontanismo (1911-1915)

Abstract

RESUMEN: El periódico El Ariete, publicado entre 1911 y 1915 en Bogotá, durante el gobierno republicano del antioqueño Carlos E. Restrepo, es una expresión del ejercicio periodístico y de la escritura satírica desde la orilla liberal de izquierda —cuya cabeza visible fue el también antioqueño Rafael Uribe Uribe— en contra de los jefes liberales que establecieron la alianza con los conservadores para gobernar de forma conjunta la nación. El objetivo de este artículo es analizar los artículos de opinión publicados en El Ariete, para evidenciar las alianzas políticas e ideológicas que se pactaron entre el partido conservador y los dirigentes de la Iglesia, con la determinación de seguir prolongando sus políticas regeneracionistas, centralistas y confesionales del siglo XIX. También es posible conocer cómo, a través de la prensa liberal contestataria, se desacreditaba la forma de gobierno del presidente Restrepo. Además, se pudo observar un pasajero resquebrajamiento de la estructura interna de los partidos políticos tradicionales, lo cual conllevó al surgimiento de nuevas corrientes y organizaciones políticas como el “partido obrero” influenciado por las ideas socialistas y acogidos por el ala radical del partido liberal, en su lucha por los derechos sufragistas del pueblo, y con ello, comprender el panorama político y social de Colombia a inicios del siglo XX.

ABSTRACT: The newspaper El Ariete, published between 1911 and 1915 in Bogotá, during the republican government of Carlos E. Restrepo, is an expression of journalistic exercise and satirical writing from the liberal left edge —whose visible head was Rafael Uribe Uribe— against the liberal leaders who established the alliance with the conservatives to jointly govern the nation. The objective of this article is to analyze the opinion articles published in El Ariete, to show the political and ideological alliances that were agreed between the conservative party and the leaders of the Church, with the determination to continue prolonging their regenerationist, centralist and confessional policies 19th century. It is also possible to know how, through the oppositional liberal press, the form of government of President Restrepo was discredited. In addition, a temporary breakdown of the internal structure of the traditional political parties could be observed, which led to the emergence of new currents and political organizations such as the "workers party" influenced by socialist ideas and welcomed by the radical wing of the liberal party. in his struggle for the suffrage rights of the people, and with it, to understand the political and social panorama of Colombia at the beginning of the 20th century.
