El primer festival hippie de Ancón: su incidencia en el cambio cultural de Medellín durante la década de 1970

Abstract

RESUMEN: Este artículo da cuenta del primer Festival hippie realizado en Latinoamérica en 1971, El festival hippie de Ancón, como una réplica de Woodstock, y su incidencia en la ruptura con las tradiciones antioqueñas. Se parte de una serie de preguntas orientadoras cuyas respuestas afloran en la medida que se recrea el acontecimiento. ¿Por qué se realizó este primer festival hippie en Ancón? ¿Cuáles fueron las motivaciones para llevar a cabo dicho festival? ¿Quiénes hicieron parte de este festival? ¿Hasta qué punto, el festival era una expresión artística ritualizada en sus asistentes? ¿Cómo aquellos jóvenes se enfrentaron a la tradición y cuál fue su desenlace? ¿Se puede considerar como una forma de resistencia a la sociedad tradicional antioqueña, a la guerra de Vietnam y a la dictadura de la sotana? ¿La forma de ser en los hippies de la década de los 70s del siglo XX, respondió a toda una tecnología de la representación del cuerpo para formar un frente contracultural de valores y comportamientos? ¿Qué importancia tuvo aquel festival para la historia antioqueña? ¿Qué aportes generó la realización de dicho festival al contexto sociocultural de Medellín? ¿Cómo se puede interpretar la ruptura con la tradición y definir el comportamiento de la juventud de los setentas, tras el festival? ¿Cuál era la importancia de la juventud para la sociedad de Medellín antes y después del festival? ¿Cuándo adquiere importancia la juventud para la sociedad de Medellín? Estas preguntas guías dan cuentan de la estructura y contenido del texto en términos de lo que fue la organización, el contexto político, cultural y social del festival de Ancón, incluyendo en su narrativa testimonios de algunos asistentes y organizadores. Para su elaboración fue necesaria una ruta metodológica que involucró la revisión de varias fuentes como entrevistas, visitas a los archivos históricos, revisión de periódicos, medios digitales, archivos fotográficos, viajes y recorridos para profundizar en el significado histórico del Festival de Ancón.

ABSTRACT: This article reports on the first hippie festival held in Latin America in 1971, the Ancón hippie festival, as a replica of Woodstock, and its impact on the break with Antioquian traditions. It starts with a series of guiding questions whose answers emerge as the event is recreated. Why was this first hippie festival held in Ancón? What were the motivations for carrying out this festival? Who was part of this festival? To what extent was the festival a ritualized artistic expression in its attendees? How did those young people face tradition and what was their outcome? Can traditional Antioquian society, the Vietnam War and the dictatorship of the cassock be considered a form of resistance? Did the way of being in the hippies of the 70s of the 20th century respond to a whole technology of body representation to form a countercultural front of values and behaviors? What importance did that festival have for the history of Antioquia? What contributions did the festival generate to the sociocultural context of Medellín? How can the break with tradition be interpreted and define the behavior of the youth of the seventies, after the festival? What was the importance of youth for Medellin society before and after the festival? When did youth acquire importance for the society of Medellín? These guiding questions account for the structure and content of the text in terms of what the organization was like, the political, cultural and social context of the Ancón festival, including in its narrative testimonials from some attendees and organizers. For its elaboration, a methodological route was necessary that involved the review of various sources such as interviews, visits to historical archives, review of newspapers, digital media, photographic archives, trips and tours to delve into the historical significance of the Ancón Festival.
