Descripción y valoración histórica del Fondo Historias Clínicas del Hospital Mental de Antioquia (HOMO), 1903-2005

Abstract

RESUMEN: Este trabajo presenta los resultados del proceso de descripción y valoración histórica de 800 historias clínicas psiquiátricas del Fondo documental HOMO, custodiado por el Laboratorio de Fuentes Históricas de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, sede Medellín. Inicialmente se elaboró un rastreo de la normatividad legal y conceptual de las historias clínicas en Colombia y de la reglamentación rectora en la descripción archivística del AGN y de la norma ISAD(G), apoyados en el instrumento de inventario se ingresó la información correspondiente a las principales características de pacientes del Manicomio Departamental entre 1905-2003, particularidades que permitieron la valoración histórica y con ello la identificación de las diversas líneas de investigación. La descripción y valoración de esta muestra evidenció un predominio en los ingresos con diagnóstico de Esquizofrenia a la institución a partir de 1940, por ello se desarrolló un escrito que analiza los alcances y limitaciones de la fuente y los aspectos más relevantes del diagnóstico en mención.

ABSTRACT: This paper presents the results of the historical description and assessment process of 800 psychiatric medical records from the HOMO documentary fund, under the custody of the Laboratory of Historical Sources of the National University of Colombia, Medellin. Initially, the legal and conceptual normativity of clinical records in Colombia and the governing regulations in the archival description of the AGN and the ISAD(G) standard were traced, helped by the inventory instrument, the information corresponding to the main characteristics of patients of the Departmental Asylum between 1905-2003 was entered, particularities that allowed the historical assessment, and thus, the identification of the various lines of research. The description and assessment of this sample showed a predominance of patients with a diagnosis of schizophrenia admitted to the institution from 1940 onwards. For this reason, this paper intends to analyze the scope and limitations of the source and the most relevant aspects of the diagnosis in question
