Experiencia de los trabajadores sanitarios en relación con su salud, en la atención de pacientes con COVID 19 en la ciudad de Medellín, mayo de 2020 y mayo de 2021

Abstract

RESUMEN: La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo comprender las experiencias de los trabajadores sanitarios en relación con su salud, durante la atención de pacientes con Covid-19. Para lograrlo, el trabajo se inscribió en la corriente cualitativa y se desarrolló un estudio interpretativo con herramientas de la fenomenología, el cual hizo posible acercarse al mundo empírico de los participantes, asegurando un estrecho ajuste entre los datos y lo que los participantes realmente dijeron y sus narraciones con relación a lo que hacían. Para la recolección de los datos, se realizaron 11 entrevistas en profundidad, a 6 participantes que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión. El análisis de los datos, permitió realizar una agrupación de estos en unidades temáticas, las cuales muestran esas situaciones que enfrentaron los trabajadores sanitarios durante La Pandemia. En primer lugar, se presentó un cambio en las dinámicas de la atención que ofrecían los hospitales y las Instituciones Prestadoras de Servicios de Salud (IPS), encontrando en este punto un antes y un después de la Pandemia. En segundo lugar, se encuentra la atención de los pacientes con Covid en tiempos sombríos; los cuales pasaron del desconocimiento del manejo de la enfermedad, al desgaste de los profesionales. En tercer lugar, aparece el experimentar la muerte; lo cual tiene un tránsito entre el miedo a la muerte y morir para el mundo. Finalmente, los participantes de la investigación afirmaron frente al sistema de salud, que nunca se va a estar preparado para hacer frente a una pandemia.

ABSTRACT: The aim of this research was to understand the experiences of health care workers in relation to their health, during the care of patients with Covid-19. To achieve this, the work was inscribed in the qualitative current and an interpretative study was developed with phenomenological tools, which made it possible to approach the empirical world of the participants, ensuring a close fit between the data and what the participants actually said and their narratives in relation to what they did. For data collection, 11 in-depth interviews were conducted with 6 participants who met the inclusion criteria. The analysis of the data allowed us to group them into thematic units, which show the situations faced by health workers during the pandemic. In the first place, there was a change in the dynamics of the care offered by hospitals and Health Service Providing Institutions (IPS), finding at this point a before and an after the Pandemic. Secondly, there is the care of patients with Covid in dark times, which went from the lack of knowledge about the management of the disease, to the attrition of professionals. Thirdly, there is the experience of death, which is a transition between the fear of death and dying for the world. Finally, the research participants affirmed that the health system will never be prepared to face a pandemic.
