Rol del profesional de enfermería en las voluntades anticipadas del paciente con cáncer y su familia

Abstract

RESUMEN: El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo analizar literatura científica sobre el rol del profesional de enfermería en el tema de voluntades anticipadas del paciente con cáncer y su familia disponible en bases de datos de los últimos diez años. Se desarrolla a partir de la investigación cualitativa por medio de un estado del arte, en el que se revisó material bibliográfico en español, inglés y portugués publicados entre el 2013 y 2023. Se revisaron las bases de datos Google Scholar, Pubmed, Science Direct, Scielo, Elsevier relacionado con el rol del profesional de enfermería en el tema de voluntades anticipadas al paciente con cáncer y su familia. Se utilizaron los descriptores como directivas anticipadas, enfermería, oncología, testamento vital, gestión en salud, voluntades anticipadas, rol de enfermería; los cuales se ajustaron al objetivo de la monografía y permitieron encontrar 60 artículos importantes para el análisis. Los hallazgos muestran escasez de producción sobre el perfil que debe tener el especialista en enfermería oncológica en las voluntades anticipadas del paciente con cáncer y su familia, sin embargo, la tendencia es que los profesionales de enfermería, al estar en mayor contacto con el paciente, se convierten en importantes comunicadores del tema, y por ende, están en la capacidad de iniciar las conversaciones en las que el individuo exprese sus voluntades antes de morir. En conclusión, el profesional de enfermería desempeña un papel importante en la implementación de las voluntades anticipadas y el respeto a las decisiones del individuo y la preservación de la autonomía en las etapas finales de la vida, a pesar de la poca evidencia científica sobre perfil, competencias o desempeño específico.

ABSTRACT: The objective of this work is to analyze the literature on the role of the nursing professional regarding advance directives for patients with cancer and their family using databases from the last ten years. It is developed from qualitative research through the review of bibliographic material in Spanish, English and Portuguese published between 2013 and 2023. The databases used include Google Scholar, Pubmed, Science Direct, Scielo and Elsevier focused on the role of nursing professionals in advance directives for patients with cancer and their families. Descriptors were used as advanced directives, nursing, oncology, living wills, health management and nurse's role; to align with the objective of the monograph allowing the identification of 60 relevant articles for analysis. The findings show scarcity when it comes to evidencing the profile that the oncology nursing specialist has in the advance directives of the patient with cancer and his family in a defined way, however the trend in nursing shows that by being in close contact with patients, nurses become key communicators of this topic, and therefore, they are able to initiate conversations in which the individual expresses their wishes before dying. In conclusion, the nursing professional plays an important role in the implementation of advance directives despite the limited literature found, where their objective is respect for the individual's decisions and the preservation of autonomy in the final stages of life.
