Caracterización morfológica, histológica e histoquímica del tracto gastrointestinal de bocachico (Prochilodus magdalenae)

Abstract

RESUMEN: Este trabajo de investigación describe las características anatómicas, histológicas e histoquímicas del tracto gastrointestinal del Bocachico - Prochilodus magdalenae, pez endémico de la cuenca del Río Magdalena, de hábitos detritívoros, el cual cuenta con un tracto digestivo largo conformado por cuatro regiones bien definidas, la cavidad orofaríngea, el esófago, el estómago y el intestino. El esófago es un segmento tubular mediano, de pared gruesa con proyecciones digitiformes hacia la luz y abundantes glándulas acinares. La tinción histoquímica permitió la detección de mucinas neutras, ácidas sulfatadas y carboxiladas; la marcación para mucinas ácidas fue exclusivamente para células de moco y la marcación para mucinas neutras se observó tanto en células de moco, como en células epiteliales. El estómago de bocachico por su estructura macroscópica y su disposición en forma de U se podría clasificar como de tipo fúndico, con tres regiones, cardial, fúndica y pilórica. La presencia de diferentes tipos de mucinas detectadas en diferentes regiones del estómago correspondió exclusivamente a mucinas neutras, cuya función es la de proteger la mucosa de la acción del ácido gástrico y la actividad enzimática. El intestino de bocachico es una estructura de longitud considerable que forma múltiples asas intestinales organizadas en un paquete compacto que ocupa una gran parte de la cavidad celómica, Por medio de análisis histoquímicos se logró la detección de mucinas neutras y ácidas sulfatadas y carboxiladas con moderada intensidad en los segmentos anterior y medio. En la porción anterior hubo ligero predominio de mucinas neutras. En los segmentos medio y posterior hubo predominio de mucinas ácidas principalmente carboxiladas relacionadas con la absorción de nutrientes.

ABSTRACT: This research project describes the anatomical, histological and histochemical characteristics of bocachico (Prochilodus magdalenae) gastrointestinal tract. This detritivorous endemic fish from the Magdalena river basin has a large digestive tract composed of four defined regions: the oropharyngeal cavity, esophagus, stomach, and intestine. The bocachico esophagus is a thickwalled, median tubular segment with finger-like folds and abundant acinar glands. Histochemical staining of the esophagus has detected neutral, acidic sulfated, and carboxylated mucins; while the marking for acidic mucins has been exclusive for mucus cells, the staining for neutral mucins has been observed in both mucus cells and columnar epithelial cells. Moreover, due to its macroscopic structure and its U-shaped disposition, the bocachico stomach could be classified as fundic type, with three regions: cardial, fundic and pyloric. The mucin dynamics in all regions of the stomach corresponded exclusively to neutral mucins with the function of protecting the mucosa from the action of gastric acid and enzymatic activity. Finally, the histochemical analysis of the intestine, which is a long, super-coiled structure occupying practically the entire coelomic cavity, indicates the presence of sulfated and carboxylated neutral and acidic mucins with moderate intensity in the anterior and middle segments. In the anterior portion there was a slight predominance of neutral mucins, while in the middle and posterior segments, acidic mucins were more predominant, particularly carboxylated mucins related to nutrient absorption.
