Análisis del desempeño en pruebas de interpretación a vista de candidatos a traductor e intérprete oficial en Colombia

Abstract

RESUMEN: Este estudio de caso múltiple, con enfoque de género, analiza el desempeño en pruebas de interpretación a vista del Examen para Traductor e Intérprete Oficial (ETIO) de la Universidad de Antioquia. Se realizó una comparación cuantitativa de los tipos de errores cometidos por 12 candidatas y 13 candidatos de las convocatorias 2013-2 y 2014-2, en la direccionalidad inglés-español. Los hallazgos indican un mejor desempeño del género femenino, considerando la cantidad, tipo y gravedad de los errores. Estos resultados enriquecen el debate sobre la figura del Traductor e Intérprete Oficial (TIO) en Colombia y contribuyen a la mejora estructural del ETIO.

ABSTRACT: This multiple case study, with a gender perspective, analyzes translation performance in sight interpreting tests from the Official Translator and Interpreter Examination (ETIO, Examen para Traductor e Intérprete Oficial) administered by the University of Antioquia. A quantitative comparison of the types of errors made by 12 female and 13 male candidates from the 2013-2 and 2014-2 sessions was conducted in the English-Spanish directionality. The findings indicate better performance by the female gender, considering the quantity, type, and severity of errors. These results enrich the debate on the role of the Official Translator and Interpreter (TIO) in Colombia and contribute to the structural improvement of the ETIO.
