Características de Personalidad y Conductas de Riesgo Frente al Volante

Abstract

RESUMEN: Poco a poco se van generando estudios donde la evidencia de que la personalidad en relación a las conductas de riesgo en las vías, constituyen un importante factor contributivo en choques y siniestros viales. El presente trabajo se realizó con el fin de identificar la incidencia y/o posible relación entre ciertas características de personalidad y algunas conductas de riesgo frente al volante. Se realizó un estudio a una muestra poblacional utilizando el inventario de personalidad de Millon y el polidactígrafo para observar la parte comportamental y técnica del conductor frente al volante. Los resultados muestran cierta relación entre el retraimiento y la impulsividad, reacción al frenado y resistencia a la fatiga. Estos resultados tienen importantes implicaciones prácticas a la hora de diseñar programas de prevención e intervención en el campo de la seguridad vial.

ABSTRACT: Gradually studies are being carried out where the evidence that the personality in relation to the risk behaviors in the roads, constitute an important contributory factor in road crashes and accidents. The present work was carried out in order to identify the incidence and possible relationship between certain personality characteristics and some risk behaviors in front of the steering wheel. A study was carried out on a population sample using Millon personal inventory and the polydactigrapher to observe the behavioral and technical part of the driver in front of the steering wheel. The results show a certain relationship between withdrawal and Impulsivity, reaction to braking and resistance to fatigue. These results have important practical implications when designing prevention and intervention programs in the field of road safety.
