Aportes de Trabajo Social a los programas de cuidados paliativos Medellín 2021

Abstract

RESUMEN: en la presente investigación se estudian las funciones de los trabajadores sociales en el área de cuidados paliativos en la ciudad de Medellín, este se da por medio de entrevistas realizadas a tres profesionales vinculadas al área de cuidados paliativos en las entidades prestadoras del servicio suramericana, Instituto Colombiano del dolor e independientes. Así mismo se busca describir las estrategias de intervención e identificar los logros y limitaciones del Trabajador social en el área de cuidados paliativos, siendo esta un área en crecimiento y que requiere de un profesional social, ya que este interviene en todos los procesos sociales del paciente paliativo y permite una intervención más acertada al alivio del dolor del paciente durante su proceso terminal; teniendo en cuenta que el área de Cuidados Paliativos fue creada para ayudar a los pacientes con enfermedades terminales, buscando dar una mejor calidad de vida, bienestar a pacientes y familiares, aliviar el dolor, afrontar el proceso de duelo, atender la diferentes situaciones psicosociales que se puedan presentar en el proceso de la enfermedad y en la estadía en el área de cuidados paliativos, así mismo se requiere de diferentes profesionales en el área para contribuir con el proceso, como médicos, especialistas en dolor, enfermeros, psicólogos y Trabajadores Sociales; Por lo que es importante conocer cuáles son las funciones específicas del trabajador social en esta área.

ABSTRACT: in this research, the functions of social workers in the area of palliative care in the city of Medellin are studied, this is given through interviews carried out by three professionals linked to the area of palliative care in the entities that provide the service Suramericana, Institute Colombian of pain and independent. Likewise, it seeks to describe the intervention strategies and identify the achievements and limitations of the Social Worker in the area of palliative care, this being an area in growth and that requires a social professional, since this intervenes in all the social processes of the patient palliative and allows a more successful intervention to alleviate the pain of the patient during his terminal process; taking into account that the Palliative Care area was created to help patients with terminal illnesses, seeking to give a better quality of life, well-being to patients and families, alleviate pain, face the grieving process, attend to the different psychosocial situations that They can occur in the disease process and in the stay in the palliative care area, as well as different professionals in the area are required to contribute to the process, such as doctors, pain specialists, nurses, psychologists and Social Workers; So it is important to know what the specific functions of the social worker are in this area.
