Representación social del viejo en El coronel no tiene quien le escriba de Gabriel García Márquez

Abstract

RESUMEN: Los cuestionamientos que, como disciplina, la antropología se ha hecho en las últimas décadas, en cuanto a la esencia literaria de la escritura antropológica y la necesidad de expandir los métodos de investigación más allá de la etnografía, han posibilitado una expansión y profundización de las relaciones antropología-literatura. En este trabajo la literatura es escenario de estudio de las representaciones sociales, porque a través del lenguaje y del autor como representante y mediador de la cultura, puede exponer la forma en que una sociedad construye la imagen de un objeto o sujeto social y se relaciona con ella. El viejo es el sujeto social cuya representación estudia este texto y lo haremos a través de la obra El coronel no tiene quien le escriba de Gabriel García Márquez. Además de exponer la forma como la antropología y la literatura colombiana se han acercado al estudio de la vejez, realizamos un ejercicio hermenéutico del texto para develar el estereotipo del viejo en él, relacionándola, por último, con las teorías y conceptos que la antropología ha desarrollado sobre el tema.

ABSTRACT: The questions that, as a discipline, anthropology has been done in recent decades, in terms of the literary essence of anthropological writing and the need to expand research methods beyond ethnography, have allowed an expansion and deepening of the anthropology-literature relations. In this work, literature is the setting for the study of social representations, because through language and the author as representative and mediator of culture, it can expose the way in which a society constructs the image of an object or social subject and relates to it. The old man is the social subject whose representation studies this text and we will do it through the work El coronel no tiene quien le escriba of Gabriel García Márquez. In addition to exposing the way in which Colombian anthropology and literature have approached the study of old age, we conducted a hermeneutical exercise of the text to unveil the stereotype of the old in it, relating it, finally, with the theories and concepts that anthropology has developed on the subject with her.
