Arte público en Medellín : cartografía de una ciudad desconocida

Abstract

RESUMEN: El texto aborda la relación entre la ciudad de Medellín, el arte público y la formación humana y ciudadana integral. Se resalta la falta de reconocimiento y valoración del patrimonio artístico y cultural de Medellín, incluyendo obras de arte públicas que forman parte de su identidad cultural. Se plantea la necesidad de generar estrategias de conocimiento y formación para acercarse a la historia artística de la ciudad y resignificarla a través del arte en espacios públicos. Además, se aborda la importancia de la formación humana integral a través del arte y la cultura. Se menciona que la falta de conciencia sobre la realidad artística de la ciudad repercute negativamente en la intencionalidad de propender por una formación humana integral. Se propone que el arte expresado en la ciudad, aunque invisibilizado por diversas razones, puede ser un elemento fundamental para la sensibilización y el enriquecimiento cultural de los habitantes de Medellín. Por otro lado, "Arte Público en Medellín: Cartografía de una Ciudad Desconocida" ofrece una mirada profunda y detallada al papel del arte público en la transformación urbana y cultural de Medellín, Colombia. Explora la historia del arte público en la ciudad, desde tres perspectivas, el arte público en la Medellín Republicana y la injerencia de las elites medellinenses en las manifestaciones del mismo. El arte de la Medellín Industrial y la influencia de los empresarios en la configuración del modelo de ciudad y de ciudadanía. Y, por último una mirada del arte desde el momento en que el “mito” industrial decae hasta los proyectos contemporáneos que han marcado la escena urbana. Se destaca el impacto social y cultural del arte público en la revitalización de áreas urbanas, la inclusión social y el sentido de pertenencia comunitaria.

ABSTRACT:The text addresses the relationship between the city of Medellín, public art, and comprehensive human and civic education. It highlights the lack of recognition and appreciation for Medellín's artistic and cultural heritage, including public artworks that are part of its cultural identity. The need to generate strategies for knowledge and education to approach the city's artistic history and reinterpret it through art in public spaces is emphasized. Additionally, the importance of comprehensive human education through art and culture is addressed. It is mentioned that the lack of awareness about the city's artistic reality negatively impacts the intentionality to promote comprehensive human education. It is proposed that art expressed in the city, although obscured for various reasons, can be a fundamental element for sensitization and cultural enrichment of the inhabitants of Medellín. On the other hand, "Public Art in Medellín: Mapping an Unknown City" offers a deep and detailed look at the role of public art in the urban and cultural transformation of Medellín, Colombia. It explores the history of public art in the city from three perspectives: public art in Republican Medellín and the influence of Medellin elites on its manifestations. The art of Industrial Medellín and the influence of businessmen on the configuration of the city and citizenship model. And finally, a view of art from the moment the industrial "myth" declines to contemporary projects that have marked the urban scene. The social and cultural impact of public art on the revitalization of urban areas, social inclusion, and community belonging is highlighted.
